"I've been racing since 1983.  I race mostly on the east coast, but from time-to-time, I have the priveledge to race ABA.  I guess you would call me a late bloomer, as I didn't see major success until I turned 30.  I did win the 1986 NBL Grand National as a 15 novice, where somebody coined the name Tommy "2x4" Board in BMX Action.  I turned Vet Pro/Elite Masters in 2003, scoring a No.8 plate in the NBL.  At the time, I thought my BMX racing was at an end.  I was completing a BS in Human and Health Performance and college demanding my full attention and dedication, so I stopped racing until 2006.  I reclassed and had great success, missing out on the No.1 titles in 2006 and 2007 by 1 point.
It was at the end of the 2008 season when I got the nod from Redline's TM - gOrk, to join the Factory Redline Team.  As a kid growing up during the BMX Boom, riding for Redline was always a dream! I'd sent them resume's almost every year, and I think they just finally gave in with my persistence. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would ever be wearing the famous red and black that the legends like Stompin' Stu, Greg Grubs, DD Leone, Billy Griggs and Greg Hill, just to name a few have wore.  Everytime I stepped into the trailer and see all the No.1's on the door-of-fame, I have to pinch myself just to make sure I'm not dreaming.
"In 2008 after my 3rd consecutive 2nd place finish at the NBL Grands, I felt it was now or never to return to the Vet Pro/Elite Masters class.  I trained throughout the winter and actually scored my first pro win at the Indianapolis regional event, racing against two top super x's.  I also made some other Elite Open mains, being almost 20 years older than some of the other guys on the gate.

"I was ready to see what I could do in the Elite Masters class, but unfortunately suffered a major injury to my left hand, where I had to have 2 pins hold my first metacarpal in place for 6 weeks.  Right in the middle of the Elite Series season.  The hits kept on coming!  After coming back from my broken hand, I got back into the best shape ever, only to come down with an upper respiratory infection a week before the NBL Grands.  You can go to Go211 and watch me pass out literally on the last straight and crash.

"For 2010, I look forward to riding the new Flight Pro XL!  The plan for next year is the same as before, train hard and leave it all on the track.  I want to score a top 10 number and be on the podium.  I want to take the time out to thank Gork for all the support!!!  Thanks to all the people who have taken the time out to write nice things about me over on Vintagebmx.com.  I have to thank my wife for all of her support.  Most importantly, I have to thank GOD for putting me in this position to make a positive impact on BMX and the young men and women involved!"
