Race summary
This weekend was a big one. It was the qualifiers that might get us the ticket to New Zealand, which was great. Boys and girls raced together, the top 5 boys and the top 3 girls get to go to NZ in October to race the Kiwis.
The track was the right size for 11 year olds so I was able to do some jumps. But it wasn’t as easy as it sounds.
Day 1
Moto one: I had lane six and I had a pretty bad start. I saw at my corner of my eye Cooper slipped his pedal. I sprinted. On the first corner I came out in last. I was panicking. On the third straight, I was pedalling up to jump into the double but I thought that I didn’t have enough speed so I manualed it. I lost a lot of speed it wasn’t the right thing to do.... But on the last corner I did a high-low and got past Brody. I came fifth.
Moto two: I had lane four and I had a pretty good start but I came out of the first corner in fifth. I this time I jumped into the double on the third straight and cased but that was much quicker than the last race. On the last straight, I nearly caught up to Luke who was in front of me. But I couldn’t. I came fifth again.
Day 2
Today was my first day to race to wear my Champion System gear. It was fantastic. Thank you Champion System!!!!
Moto three: I had lane two. I had a good start and I came out in fourth. I jumped into the double and actually caught up to a boy in front of me. Then I thought YESSSSS I might get third! But then he caught up and I couldn’t catch up. I came fourth.
Moto four: I had lane five. I had a good start and I came out in fourth. Brody was right on my back wheel. I jumped into the double I was pretty happy. Suddenly Brody came up on the inside and nearly got me but I held him. On the last corner Dan hit Cooper’s back wheel and unclipped. This was my chance to get in third. I came third.
Moto five: This race was the best one out of the whole weekend. I had lane eight and I had a great start. But I was coming second last down the third straight. I passed James and I was coming fifth. On the last straight I high-lowed a boy then I past another boy then I came third!!! It was a good fun race.
I got the highest placing of all the girls so I qualified for NZ as the Captain of the girls team. Now I need to go to New Zealand to race.
