XBR Summer Series 2010

The weather was great for the 2010 XBR Summer Series. The Summer Series is a competition with 5 rounds at 5 different tracks around Sydney which is held once a year in January. There is a lot of competition as there are international riders that come and race. I was very excited and couldn’t wait to race. At each of the 5 rounds, I raced pro and age. We had 3 gates of Pro ladies in most of the rounds.

Round 1; Liverpool: The Liverpool track was prepared well. I had 3 heat races and in my age class, I got 2nd, 2nd and 1st, but in the final, I got 3rd. In Pro, there were 3 heats of us, so we had semis and I made the final. I had an alright start but had the outside and finished 8th.

Round 2; Hawkesbury: This was a faster track as it had a heaps bigger start hill. We only had 2 motos today as someone crashed and we had to wait an hour for the ambulance so they dropped the 3rd moto. In my age motos, I got a 4th and 1st which put me into the final which I got 2nd in. In pro, again we had 3 heats a semi and final. I made the semi which I placed 4th in to put me into the final. In the final, I was in 6th till the last berm where I unclipped and couldn’t get clipped back in until the 3rd last jump which by that time 2 people had already passed me and I finished 8th.
 

Round 3; Manly Warringah: FLATS! It was a retro round, so everyone had to wear flats (I was a bit sketchy). I won my age group for that day. In pro, we only had 2 gates but it was still just as tough. In my heat races, I got 4th, 3rd and 4th which was enough to put me into the final. In the final, I had an awesome start and finished 3rd.

Round 4; Macarthur: Macarthur was a good track, but had a really flat start hill. In age, we only had one gate so it was on points and I finished 4th. In pro, I had 2 gates and in my motos, I got 3rd, 4th and 3rd which gave me a finals birth. In the final, I had a good start, then got boxed in by the two people next to me and finished 7th.

Round 5; Castle Hill: This track was my favourite out of the 5 by far. In my age class, it was on points and I finished 3rd. In pro, we had 3 heats and a semi again. In my heat races, I got 5th, 2nd and 1st which put me into the semi. In the semi, I got 3rd which got me into the final. I had a good start in the final and finished 3rd.
