By Redline Australia on December 14, 2009

Name: Saya Sakakibara
Sponsors: Redline, Skins, Blackman Bicycles, Precision BMX, Time, Champion System
Age: 10
Date: Sunday 29th November 2009
Venue: Eastfield BMX
Race: Victorian State Championships
Class: 10 GIRLS
Result: 1st
Weather: Very rainy.
Course condition: It was muddy but the dirt sucked it in.

Comment: The day I raced was not too good. The reason why is because it rained. I don’t like it raining on a race day. Anyway there were pretty small jumps on that track. Heaps of jumps that I can jump. Also the start hill was steep.

First moto: I had a normal start and came up in front. I didn’t realise it was so slow. All well I went around the second corner and I tried to jump the first one but I cased it. Then on the last two jumps on the third straight I manualed it but it was no use. I tried to manual the last straight six rollers but all I did was case and lost speed. I came first anyway.

Second moto: I had lane one and had a bad start. I came back out in front and came around the first corner. I manualed the first double and a tiny bit case. Then on the last jump of the second straight I jumped on to the table. On the first one of the third straight I manualed the first step up. It was faster than jumping it. I came first.

Third moto: It had stopped raining and the track dried up, I was going to jump the second straight first double. But just before my race it started pouring! So I couldn’t get the speed to jump it and I manualed it instead. Then on the last jump on the second straight, I tried to power manual it but I nearly fell over! That was lucky. But I was in front the whole way then I came first.

Now it is the FINAL!!! I was nervous.
I had first pick so I chose lane 1.
Pi, pi, pi, pi. The gate dropped. I had to try as hard as I could. Because it was so muddy I couldn’t do any manuals or jumps.
But I went around the second corner and my legs were dead. I had to go hard so the girls behind me can’t catch up. Just going through the last straight……………YES I won!

The racing was fun. And I loved that track.
