Redline Cup Finals

By Jason Carne$#99 on October 09, 2012

Welcome, race fans, to Redline Cup season!  For 19 years, Redline has been the proud title-sponsor of this USA BMX regional championship series and this weekend, the finals were kicked off in the central region at beautiful Blue Springs BMX in Blue Springs, MO.

After 77 Redline Cup qualifiers were held across the country this year, riders were hyped-up and ready to battle for the illustrious Redline Cup plates and jackets.  Track operators Jerry and Cheryl Rau spent countless hours (on Jerry’s birthday, no less) getting the track fine-tuned and ready to rock.  Their work didn’t go unnoticed as the track was smooth as glass and groomed to perfection.

With a Redline Flight School on Wednesday night, a 67 moto pre-race on Friday, and lots of good fortune from the weatherman, the weekend was off to a strong start.  The tight, jump-filled Blue Springs track provided some great racing with plenty of thrills and spills, with lots of elation and heartbreak to go along with it.  Redline had two riders holding down the fort in Blue Springs:   New Zealand’s Maori sensation, Trent Woodcock, and RL team manager and Flight School Commandant, Jason Carnes.  Trent showed he’s getting back to form following shoulder surgery by capturing the top spot both days in the A-pro class with Carnes following up with two 3rds.  After 141 action-packed motos of racing on Saturday and 140 on Sunday, the points were tabulated and the 2012 Redline Cup central region champions were crowned.
