2012 QLD State Titles

Weather: The weather had been fine, but on the day before racing it rained, this just made the track perfect for racing.

Race day 1 20”: On race day, the track was smooth and hard. In my Moto’s I had good races and lead all the way to the finish line which meant that I had a good pick for the quarters. There were only 6 man quarters but I still knew that I had to try to make it through to semis. In my quarter I had a good race but I just cruised in for second place saving my energy for semis and then the final. In my semi,  I didn’t have that good of a start and got blocked twice down the first straight. I was coming  5th  down the second straight but then railed the second corner and I was going to go down the outside of the third straight but over the first jump on the third straight two kids crashed leaving it open for me to move over to the inside and protect my line where I ended up coming 4th. In the final, because of my result in the semi, I had 6th pick leaving me with an outside gate. I had a perfect start and lead it down the first straight but because I was on the outside I got pushed up the berm. I bumped bars with a fellow rider over the first one down the second straight which meant I had to manual it when I had been previously jumping it. After I manualed  the first one on the second straight I had enough speed to jump the rest of the straight on the inside and I passed 3 kids doing so which put me into second place. Down the third straight I had to try and go on the outside of first place and about three quarters through it I managed to pass him. Around the last corner I was worried that he was going to try and go up the inside of me and push me up high so I tried to get as much distance between me and him as possible and it worked. Down the last straight I was really smooth which lead me to my second 1Q plate at the Cairns BMX track.

Race day 2 Cruiser: On the second day of my racing I was racing the 15 – 16 cruiser boys as the younger age class. In my Moto’s they all had different kids in them. I made it through in 8th position to the semis were I had three older kids then me in it. I had a good race and followed the older boys around and made it through in 4th. Because of my result in my cruiser semi, I had 7th pick of the gate. There was gate 4 and 8 free, so I decided I would pick 4. I didn’t have that good of a gate but I managed to stick with the pack but around the first corner I got cut off then after that I couldn’t manage to pass anyone but in the end I ended up with 6th.

Thanks to Redline for the great bike
