2012 State Titles

The 2012 BMX Queensland titles were held once again in Cairns this year. I love the track, so I was really excited to be racing.

Again it was a very hot Queensland’s, but I didn't let that get in the way.

We arrived in Cairn’s on Friday the week before the race.  I practiced on the track and did the pre titles to get the track dialed for racing.

The more I rode the track, the better I felt on it.

I was the first girl to jump the whole second straight and the only other being Melinda McLeod who was the reserve girl for the Olympics this year which I was pretty stoked about. Race day came and I was ready. There weren’t enough Senior Women, so the Junior Women were moved to also race with the Senior Women which became the Elite Women Class.

There were only 7 of us racing but it was a hard pack and meant we had to ride 100% each race.  We had three Motos and then one would be dropped and it would go to a dead man final. I raced well in the heats which put me into the final.

The final came and I had lane 3. I had a pretty good start and was in about 4th into the first corner but got caught up as 2 other girls crashed and I unfortunately crashed as well coming out of the corner leaving me to finish in 6th position. Overall, I was still happy with the way I rode.
