Race summary
It was a nice day of racing at Maitland. The weather conditions were perfect with warm temperatures and no wind.
After all the warm up sessions were completed, we got into racing.
I came out quite well out of lane 8 in my first moto, and made my way across to the inside down the first straight. I was in first around the first corner, and had a good run down the second straight as well. My third straight was fine and I was looking to get it across the line, but I didn’t quite get the manuals down the last straight how I wanted to and lost some of my speed. This let Zac Wilson pass me right on the line. I came in 2nd.
My start was good in my second moto, and I led Alex Cahill and Jarrod Chittick around the first corner. My second straight and third straight went fine, and I brought it around the last corner on 1st. My last straight wasn’t the best, but I still crossed the line 1st.
My third moto was a pretty good lap. I had a good start, and led it to the line with a 1st. I got a bit untidy again down the last straight, but I knew that I had it fine for the final so it was all good.
I had 2nd pick for the final and got lane 1. Jarrod Chittick flinched on the gate next to me and came out late, but I was able to come out with a good start. My first straight was good and I was in front around the first corner. My second straight was good, and I kept it going around the second corner as well. I tagged the step up out of the second corner trying to go too low and lost some of my speed, and this gave Zac Wilson an opportunity to catch up down the third straight. I had the inside line into the last corner though, and kept my position down the last straight and to the finish line. I finished 1st.
It was nice riding at Maitland again. The track was in pretty good shape, and was a fun day of racing.
