Redline Oldsmar Race Report

By the BMX Race team on February 14, 2012

For the first USA BMX Race of the 2012 season, the entire International Redline team headed down to Oldsmar, Florida to duke it out with pros from around the world and nearly freeze to death in the very unFlorida weather which included lows of 30 and nasty gusts of wind.

Joining the team for the first time since the Summer of 2011 was Alise Post who has finally recovered from her torn ACL and showed no signs of trouble while riding her Signature Redline Flight AP to the podium on Day 1 of the race with a Second, on day two however her luck changed when she fell on the first straight in her semi. Don't worry about injuries, she jumped right back to her feet. Former ABA Champion Sam Willoughby also made a couple of appearances on the podium, taking a second on saturday paired with a First on Sunday, quickly putting him in the points lead for the first ever USA BMX title.

Also finding their way in to the main events were Dutch rider's Merle Van Benthem picking up a 4th and 6th and Jelle Van Gorkom, who finished out the weekend with a pair of 6ths.

Canadian Tory Nyhaug has a couple of unfortunate endings this weekend, Saturday while in qualifying position blowing up on the last set of the prosecution, knocking him out of the races and then again on Sunday when he blew both feet out of the pedals in the Semi. Also making a trek around the world included the likes of Masa Sampei who made the trip all the way from Japan. though Masa didn't quite make it to the mains, his riding was solid all weekend.
