Tristyn Kronk Champbikx RD1 & RD2

By Redline Australia on January 23, 2012

The 2012 Nerang Nationals was a good event, the track had been upgraded with bitumen berms and was in very good condition, racing was very fast and competitive.

We started the Champbikx series off on Friday with the first round, it was nice and warm for racing but that was a welcome change from raining! I had a pretty average day of racing with seconds most of the day, and then in the final I didn’t have the best start but had a good first corner and managed to come out in first. I stayed here until the second corner when Aaron Nottle came underneath me and put me back a few places, I finished up 4th in the end not the start to the year I had hoped for.

I didn’t have a very good day Saturday either, I won my heats but then got a bit unlucky and slid out in the first corner in my semi, I wasn’t very happy after these results but put that behind me for the Test Team races where we won overall 126 to 68 points. This was great racing with the Kiwis, we were running into each other on the track but great friends off the track, coming away with the win was just a bonus. Big thanks to my team mates Alex, Brandon and Chris for some great racing and to BMXA for the opportunity to be part of this fantastic event.

On Sunday I raced my first AA race, I loved racing against all the bigger older riders and being able to do the pro straight, I got 5th in the quarters but loved the experience and I was stoked to make it that far! Not to mention getting my picture with the one and only Sam Willoughby.

So all in all, not my best weekend of racing results but still had a great time and I am definitely looking forward to Bunbury!
