Nerang Champbikx & Probikx RD1 & RD2

By Redline Australia on January 15, 2012

Nerang Champbikx and Probikx RND 1 and RND 2

Nerang track was well prepared with recently added bitumen berms making the track super fast.

Finally it looked like the weather was going to stay dry and we would have a sunny Nerang National event for the first time in ages. .....This time would be a different event racing in 30 degree heat, from the usual rain and mud on the track.

Team Redline Australia looked great in their new Australian themed Redline jerseys.

Rachelle Smith was racing the 15 yr girls this year after finishing in an overall position of 3rd last year and is hoping to improve on this. Rachelle had solid heats doing well in all her motos on Day 1 and Day 2 with some of the fastest times recorded for the class. Day 1 final started well coming around the first berm in 3rd place, Rachelle continued to battle to move up a position eventually pushing hard down the last straight to pass 3rd place and finish in 2nd position. Day 2 final was not so good getting boxed in out of the gate & coming out of the 1st berm in 7th.  She battled hard but was unable to push through to finish in 6th.

Sarah Harvey has moved up to Junior Elite to race the probikx series this year.  After getting some good practise time on the track, she was very excited to race. In the first probikx round, she did well in her heats to make the main and finished 3rd in the main. In the second round, she also made the main but this time finished 2nd. At the Nerang Nationals, she raced Pro Open Women. She did well in her heats and went into the semi having the fastest lap time out of all the girls. In her semi, she had a bad start and was coming last down the first straight. She fought very hard and ended up finishing 2nd place in the semi to put her through to the main. In the main, she had a good start coming second around the first corner, but unfortunately was almost pushed into the pro straight making her have to brake and pushing her back to 5th place which was where she finished.

Day 1

Aaron Nottle was unstoppable winning all his heat races.

Tristyn Kronk rode well with some solid 1st & 2nds

Kai Sakakibara Mr Consistency with solid 2nds in his heat races 2 of which were back to back identical times .

We new sparks were going to fly & we weren’t disappointed.

Aaron hole shotted with Tristyn passing him in the 1st turn, next corner was Team Redline 1, 2 & 3, this saw Aaron & Tristyn tried to swap bikes but in front unfortunately Tristyn losing speed moved to 4th This was the way it remained to the line with Aaron 1st Kai 3rd & Tristyn 4th.

Day 2

Not so good for Tristyn with a crash in the semi in the 1st corner.

The main saw Kai & Aaron line up but after the 1st turn Aaron found the same slippery point that Tristyn crashed & his race was over.

Kai stayed very close in 3rd & on the last corner as 1st & 2nd battled he was able to capitalise on this to finish a great 2nd.

Day 1

Josh Callan rode great with solid heats & semi. His main was good finishing 4th. On day 1 he was one of 2 riders to break 30sec bracket fuelling his quest to represent Australia at the Olympics

Unfortunately day 2 was not kind to Josh having to unclip in the 1st corner, getting a 7th in the semi & sitting out the main.

Nerang Nationals in the afternoon was shaping up to be great for the spectators but with some of the riders having raced 20 + motos I think they were feeling the strain.

Aaron after his crashed sat out of the racing

Tristyn raced AA Pro was eliminated in the Quarters

Kai raced A Pro & finished a awesome2nd

Sarah Pro Ladies unlucky at the start finished a respectable 5th

Katie 13 Girls rode well all weekend to finish a solid 2nd

Saya changing class & racing 13 Boys did well to finish 7th

Well done to all the riders & thanks to Nerang club for a dry event.
