Burdekin Race Report

By Redline Australia on November 15, 2011

The Burdekin track was in great condition which isn’t anything new for this club. It was good to see a change to the second straight which was very technical coming out of a fast first corner. I did the Rad race on Saturday morning which is a 4 lap event around the track and premises to try pick up some extra cash, this seemed like a good idea at the start but not so much towards the end as my legs were burning a little. I ended up placing first in this followed by Peter Little. By the time racing had come round I was feeling fine again and with 26 riders in pro it was a good turnout. I raced well on Saturday winning all my age races in which we had eight riders and qualifying 4th on points for pro.

Sunday was a nice day, really good weather a bit humid and hot but what would north Queensland be if it wasn’t? After the first two mottos on Sunday I was still in 4th and had second pick for the semi. I had an alright race in the semi with some contact down the start hill but placed a close second behind Jon Geck and then Jack Buchhorn. The final was full of good riders and proved to be a good race. I had a good start and then Corey Freiswyk, Michael Wallin and Jack Buchhorn come together down the first straight almost taking each other out, I came out of the first berm in first and had a smooth race from there. I also took out age on points just to top off a very good weekend of results.
