RD 1 W.A Super Series Rachelle SmithBy Redline Australia on October 10, 2011Hi Everybody. I have spent the last month in some pre season training, so it was great for the season to start in the West. Round 1 of the W.A Super Series was held last weekend at Cockburn BMX track in Perth .
I raced well in the motos to qualify with 2nd gate pick for the main. I chose 5, 3, and 1 which was easy lines into the first corner. The 1st qualifier was Kirsten Dellar, and after me there was Kishani Green, Airlie Gooden, Teagan Staines, Tracy Bicknall, Lainie Ward and Rhiannan Van Der Werf.
Kirsten Dellar manualling just in front of me in the Main 1: Final Main1 and Main 2 : Kirsten leads and I am battling for 2nd with Airlie and Kishani but by the second corner I was able to maintain my line and finish in second in both races. Main 3: My gate was heaps good, I had a good snap and I was leading the Pro open till the third corner when Kirsten Dellar just had more power and overtook me (I wondered at what part of the track she would catch up after she missed her gate) and takes the lead for the final straight. I am still pumped because overall I came second in the Pro Open and this is one of my best finishes against such strong pro women in W.A. · Next round is in Karratha on the 8th October. I will be flying up there with Airlie and we will be billeted with BMX Karratha members. It should be hot and warm and it will be a twilight so I will let you know how it goes. All the best with your racing events Redline Team riders. Rachelle Smith xx
