Redline’s first Proline is created; utilizing a 5 inch head- tube and thin rear dropouts. Byron Friday races it down Weinart Mountain, one of the gnarliest downhills in BMX history. It survives.

Chromoly Redline "V" bars become the "norm" in BMX. Everyone who is somebody has to have the bent "V" crossbar, spawning a spree of cheap imitators and creating a new market for "V"-shaped crossbar pads.
